The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has suspended match official Toddy Matenga for six weeks following a controversial decision during a Premier Soccer League fixture.
Matenga has been barred from officiating matches from Matchday 8 to Matchday 13 after being found to have made an incorrect call that influenced the outcome of a league encounter between Hunters FC and Caps United FC.
The match, played at Rufaro Stadium on April 11, 2026, was reviewed following a report submitted by a match commissioner.
In a statement, ZIFA said the sanction was imposed in accordance with Article 22 of the Referees Code of Conduct.
"The official was found to have made an incorrect decision that affected the outcome of the match," the association said.
ZIFA added that it remains committed to maintaining high standards in officiating.
The governing body said it continues to prioritise "integrity, professionalism and accountability in match officiating" as part of broader efforts to improve the credibility of domestic football.
