Residents of Lambamai Centre in Ward 20, Insiza North, were left jubilant after a large‑scale empowerment programme that saw the distribution of livestock, farming equipment, solar lights and cash assistance to villagers and vulnerable groups.

The programme was led by Ward 23 Zanu‑PF shadow councillor Sikhanyisiwe Nkomo, popularly known as the "Host for ED" or "CAB3 Queen", who travelled about 124 kilometres at her own expense to attend the event organised by Ward 20 councillor Cde Zhou Ruzive.

Hundreds of villagers gathered at Lambamai Centre alongside local party leadership, ward officials and community representatives to witness the handover of various donations aimed at boosting livelihoods and agricultural productivity.

Cllr Nkomo toured a local farm belonging to Mr Felex Mangena, where she presented two earth auger machines designed to improve efficiency in digging and farming activities.

She also donated five piglets, US$80 for pig feed, US$200 for a road‑runner chicken project, US$200 for construction of a pig kraal, five 50kg bags of starter mash, three cows for youth empowerment projects, and ten goats for a youth‑led livestock initiative.

In addition, she provided US$100 to assist a villager struggling to repay a revolving‑fund loan, and another US$100 towards catering for a planned agricultural field day. She also donated beef and chicken to ensure a communal meal for attendees.

War veterans who attended the programme each received solar‑powered lights, with 30 units distributed to improve household lighting. The lights were supplied through Virl Company and presented by their agent, Mrs Ntombikayise Mangena.

Villagers described the donations as unprecedented in scale, saying they had never witnessed such direct empowerment at community level. Many expressed gratitude and said the support would significantly improve household incomes and small‑scale farming activities.

Ward 20 councillor Cde Zhou Ruzive said the intervention had brought renewed hope to the community, encouraging residents to adopt a more business‑oriented approach to development projects.

Agronomist Mr Dumisani Masuku, who also attended the event, said the inputs and equipment provided would positively impact agricultural productivity in the ward, particularly for smallholder farmers.

In her address, Cllr Nkomo said her actions were driven by a commitment to community upliftment and her belief in empowering others through resources gained from her own business and mining ventures. She linked the initiative to broader national development aspirations under Vision 2030, urging communities to work towards self‑reliance and economic transformation.

The event concluded with a communal meal shared by villagers, marking what many described as a memorable day of support and development in Ward 20.
