Zamanyoni Old Students Association is holding its fundraising in Sheffield, England this weekend. The school association is made up of former students and teachers who are passionate about their school and region. The school is extremely under resourced and as a consequence ex-students like most in Matebeleland South province (Zimbabwe) took it upon themselves to fundraise and assist the school.
Zamanyoni Secondary School is located in Matobo district (Matebeleland South, Zimbabwe) have been recorded at zero percent pass rate in ‘O' level results in the past year.  The fund-raising aims at assisting the school with learning resources to help both staff and pupils achieve their expected outcomes.

There are a few guest speakers scheduled to speak about community development issues and activism that the attendees can get involved in. The event is also a networking opportunity for those with old school associations across the regions struggling for fund raising ideas and information.
The event has been organised with the help of MSIDC which is a Matabeleland wide organisation engaged in community development particularly in rural areas where less resources seem to be unable to filter to. The students association which has just been recently formed in the last 4 months pooled in resources and  decided to use a member's garden due lack of funding to afford an appropriate venue.

MSIDC chairman Mr. J. Malaba speaking about the event said, "our aim is to arm the young generation with education and ensure that the stay and generate incomes in the country and stop the present exodus of young people to places like South Africa and Botswana."

More events are set to be held in the coming year and well-wishers with presents or money are welcome.

The entrance fee is £10.00 and food and soft drinks are free. However alcohol drinks can be purchased from a nearby shop and those that feel like can bring their own.

Donations are welcome, cheques to be payable to Zamanyoni Schools Community Project account and sent to the school's association's treasurer address at:
