Stanbic blocks clients from accessing cash using blue debt card even before their expiry

The Stanbic bank has ditched its clients using blue debt cards as from Saturday as several of them were stranded when they tried to withdraw their money using the cards only for the ATM machines to reject their transactions.
Attempts to with draw using the cards by several clients proved that the cards were block and no longer functioning while their expiry dates are as far as 2018.
"I withdrew using this same card on Friday and there was no problem. I am surprised that only one day after, on Saturday the same card can not work for me. When i inserted it in the ATM the only information that reflected was, "Sorry this card can not enable any transaction." said one of the desperate clients. "I wanted money as soon as possible and very urgent and the banks just do such changes without telling its clients. After all my debt card expires in 2018."
A security officers manning one of the Stanbic branch in Bulawayo told affected clients that the cards' last day was Friday and advised them to try applying for the new ones on Monday, indicating that if not so one would have to only get cash from the counter.
