A 33-Year-old Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer based at Muzarabani station has been arrested for allegedly pocketing US$90 state funds meant for banking.
Douglas Gandiwa is currently assisting police with investigations at Mvurwi station.
Sources privy to the development allege Gandiwa was sent to bank $90 at Guruve magistrate court, instead he took the money home and later misused it prompting his colleagues to apprehend him.
"Gandiwa was sent to bank cash at the magistrate court but he in turn carried the money to one of his wives since he is a polygamist.
"The wife is reported to have taken the money from him and he is currently in police custody assisting police with investigations," said the source.
Friends and relatives could be seen at the station running around to raise the missing US$90 as the case is being investigated.
According to Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Obedingwa Mguni the police suspended 357 cops over misconduct last year.
"The disciplinary mechanism which is there in the police has actually seen the suspension of 357 police officers last year who had been doing other things that are outside their work."
Apparently, disciplinary action awaits Gandiwa over the case.
