A bold and brazen daylight robbery unfolded in Kwekwe's city centre on June 4, 2025, leaving the community shaken and authorities racing to find the perpetrators. The incident occurred along E.D. Mnangagwa Road when armed robbers targeted a parked Mazda CX-5, shattering its rear window to gain access and stealing a staggering US$46,000 in cash.

Police reports reveal that the suspects arrived at the scene in a silver Toyota Mark X displaying fake number plates — AGI 4348 — which actually belong to a blue Mazda Demio. This calculated tactic suggests the gang had carefully planned the operation to avoid detection and complicate police investigations.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have confirmed that investigations are ongoing. Officers are working around the clock, following leads as they launch a massive manhunt for the criminals behind the audacious heist. The police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could aid in apprehending the suspects.

The community remains on edge following the robbery, with residents demanding swift and decisive action to restore safety and security in the city centre. The incident has raised concerns about growing criminal activity and the need for enhanced policing measures in Kwekwe.

As the investigation continues, the ZRP is committed to bringing those responsible to justice and reassuring the public that such crimes will not be tolerated.
