Harare magistrate Lisa Mutendereki yesterday granted US$300 bail to businessman Philip Chiyangwa's son, Philip Munetsi, and his co-accused, Tanaka Phil Kashambe, who were facing charges of unlawful possession of dagga valued at US$10.
The two were ordered to report every Friday at CID Drugs and Narcotics, and to reside at their given addresses until the matter is finalised. They are expected back in court on October 22, 2025.
According to the State, on October 1, 2025, detectives from CID Drugs Harare received a tip-off about suspected drug activities at a house in Highlands, Harare. At around 5:30PM, detectives positioned at the property observed Munetsi driving into the yard in a Toyota Hilux with Kashambe as his passenger.
The detectives approached, identified themselves as police officers, and conducted a search of the vehicle. A sachet of dagga was reportedly found between the driver's seat and the handbrake.
The pair were immediately arrested and taken to CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare, along with the recovered substance. The dagga was later weighed at Harare Zimpost in the presence of both accused and confirmed to be one gram, with an estimated street value of US$10.
Munetsi and Kashambe now await trial as investigations continue.
