PROMINENT Bulawayo lawyer Mr Charles Paul Moyo has died.
He was 53. His daughter Ms Amanda Moyo said her father - popularly known as CP - succumbed to cancer at Mater Dei Hospital on Wednesday night.
"My father was diagnosed with osteogenic cancer and it was already at an advanced stage. He had started receiving chemotherapy but unfortunately he died on Wednesday night at Mater Dei where we had rushed him," she said.
Ms Moyo said the family has been robbed of a dedicated and loving father.
"He was the backbone and unifier of the family and we will greatly miss his presence," she said.
Mr Moyo will be buried tomorrow at his rural home in Zimuto, Masvingo. A funeral service will be held this afternoon at his house, Number 9 Landau Drive in Kumalo.
His partner in their legal firm, Moyo and Nyoni Legal Practitioners, Mr Godfrey Nyoni described Mr Moyo as a humble and fatherly figure dedicated to serving the community.
"I have been robbed of a dear colleague and father who was a pleasure to work with. We started working together way back in 1998 during attachment at Greenland Legal Associates when we were still law students. We then four years later teamed up with Mr Vonani Majoko and the three of us went into partnership and formed our law firm.
"We, however, later founded Moyo and Nyoni Legal Practitioners in 2007 and it is sad that my business partner has passed on and surely I will miss him," said Mr Nyoni.
Born on 31 August 1959 in Masvingo, Moyo went to Cyrene Mission School in Matobo district.
He was once an artisan at the National Railways of Zimbabwe before studying law at the University of Zimbabwe.
He is survived by a wife, Caroline and four children.
