Boy hang self at mom's lovers' place

A ten year old Bulawayo boy hung herself on a tree in Esigodini after she had accompanied her mother to visit her lover.

The deceased boy's mother was identified as Soneni Mpofu and the lover as Mzomkhulu Msimanga.

Mpofu is said to have arrived at Msimanga's place on Wednesday evening and the boy committed suicide the following day.

"We were shocked to receive the news of the death of the boy and it is not known what exactly caused the child to commit suicide because everything was said to be going well on that particular day when they visited his mother's boyfriend.

"It is said he was playing as a nearby homestead after having tea and after sometime his mother  was alerted that he had committed suicide" said the source.

The boy is said to have been playing with his cousin Thokozani Mpofu and a three year old neighbour.

On his part Msimanga said " I was at work when the deceased boy's mother called me saying she was alerted by passers-by that her son had committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree.

"I am really pained and didn't expect it especially taking into consideration that the boy and his mother had paid me a visit".
