Kariba Lions Clubs renewed its leadership

This Sunday, the 8th saw 21 Karoi Lions Club members descending down to the gorge to revitalize the Kariba Lions Club which falls in the same zone with Chinhoyi as well. The Lions Club International's MISSION is 'TO EMPOWER volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promotes international understanding through Lions clubs'.
The Mayor of Karoi Councillor Lion Ziki who graced the occasion took time to hearten Kariba Lions Club to treasure family fibre in the work of Lionism where spouses and children should always be there. He was accompanied by the Mayoress and his two daughters for the function as testimony that Lionism has brawny roots in family development. Zone Chair Lion Chidharara from Karoi also emphasised the vision of the Lions club being; "TO BE the global leader in community and humanitarian service".
The Regional Chair Lion Patrick Chifamba spoke of the need for unity for the purposes of charity and humanitarian work thanking the Kariba Club for the renovations of John Range cemetery toilets they did last year as well as fees payments for the needy.
The ever alighted youthful Zone Secretary Lion Chipo took the Lions and prospective Lions from Kariba through the PURPOSES of the Lions Clubs highlighting that they are;
- TO CREATE and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
- TO PROMOTE the principles of good government and good citizenship.
- TO TAKE an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
- TO UNITE the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.
- TO PROVIDE a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.
The Kariba Lions then got time to select their 2017 Lionist year Cabinet as follow:
President ............ Surge Butau
1st vice President ........Matty Kazangarare
2nd vice President ...............Innocent Kurauone
Secretary . ....Brighton Mackenzie
Treasurer . ..........Tichaona Matiki
Membership Director ......John Tafadzwa Chirinda
Tail twister.........Moses Banda
In welcoming the new Cabinet into office for the Lionist Year, The *Mayoress Lion Ziki* also reminded the Kariba Lions Club that they are "TO ENCOURAGE service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavours".
The enthralled Kariba Lions Club President Lion Surge Butau then thanked the Karoi Club for having chartered Kariba and their continued support whilst calling prospective Lions in Kariba not to hesitate to come and serve like the Lions motto *"WE SERVE"*.
