NATIONAL People's Party leader, Joice Mujuru yesterday joined other women political leaders from different political parties to launch a call centre meant to address problems faced by women during the current electoral period.
Mujuru, who now fronts the People's Rainbow Coalition rivalling the MDC Alliance led by Morgan Tsvangirai, highlighted the importance of women's vote.
"Women are the administrators of the house and the country. They know exactly where they are being pinched, making it easy for them to know what to worry about. They have to register and vote for them to get what they want in their country," she said at a Women's convergence in Harare where the call centre was launched.
"Women and mothers are feeling the pinch in the country because of their own problems and those of their children."
MDC MP and one of the organisers of the event, Pricilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga said the call centre would be active and accessible anytime.
"It is a toll free line for women to have access to information for voter registration and it will also be used to report the problems that women face which include fear and intimidation," she said.
"We are also encouraging young women to participate in the male-dominated political environment. They have to run to better their lives and that of others."
