GUEST of honour at the Castle Lager Premiership Soccer stars awards on Friday Peter Ndlovu had a few lessons for the football family.
Ndlovu highlighted his love for Liverpool and how his teammates laughed at him after he scored a three against them in Coventry colours.
"I would always tell them that even though I loved Liverpool, Coventry were my employers. I needed to do the (job)," said Ndlovu.
The Warriors legend also highlighted that it was important for clubs to give coaches time and not fire them at will.
In his speech, which he claimed was written by his daughter, the Mamelodi Sundowns manager highlighted that coaches needed time to bring out results.
His call come at time when a number of local teams do not have patience with their technical teams.
Ndlovu, a former Soccer Star of Year, said Zimbabwean football remained in his heart, adding that the players selected needed to "aim higher"
Delta beverages marketing director Max Karombo said Ndlovu remained a real icon in Zimbabwean football.
Karombo took the opportunity to encourage clubs to grow their brands.
"Marketing campaigns needed to grow the fan base for clubs. A stadium filled to capacity is every sponsor's dream.
"It allows the brand messaging to be received by a wider audience thereby increasing the return on investment spent on sponsorships.
"You need to be flexible with your pricing, merchandising and team visibility in the community to attract a huge fan base," said Karombo.
