Bulawayo City Council has warned residents of possible water supply interruptions following power outages affecting the Umzingwane catchment area in Matabeleland South.
In a notice, Town Clerk Christopher Dube said the outages occurred on Thursday, 19 February 2026, at both the Umzingwane and Inyankuni pump stations.
“The outage is due to lightning‑related faults affecting the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company supply infrastructure. ZETDC teams are currently on the ground working towards the restoration of power supply to both pump stations,” Dube said.
He added that the Rochester and Cowdray Park pump stations on the Nyamandlovu Aquifer supply line had also been experiencing intermittent electricity supply.
Dube warned that the loss of power would affect adherence to the city’s water‑shedding programme and could result in interruptions to water supplies.
“The City of Bulawayo wishes to apologise to its valued consumers for the inconvenience likely to be caused,” he said.
