A political commentator Bhekilizwe Bernard Ndlovu has said President Emmerson Mnangagwa is determined to legitimize himself through the elections which he is expecting to rig.

"ED is eager to use the 2018 harmonised and rigged elections to legitimize his illegal power grab. Mark my words. There are clear signs of them laying a notorious foundation for rigging. A plethora of little parties sponsored by Zanu to claim they divided the opposition vote. This is the main one. The current MDC fights. The continuous call by ED for free and fair elections. They will make reference to this later when they rig to say he called for free and fair elections. That's the foundation they are laying," Ndlovu said.

"The fever that the junta caught this week because of Mugabe's press conference is a clear testimony of their greatest fear of an National Transitional Authority being forced on them. And I can tell you that because of that new development they are digging in. The junta knows they cant win a fair election. Anyone who thinks so is either sent by ED himself to create that false impression as part of the plan to rig or they are sick upstairs. The junta knows should they lose the hang man's nooze hovers over their heads. They are guilty of treason and handing over power would be tantamount to committing suicide. THEY WONT! FORGET IT and mark my words. We will react the same after elections 'it was rigged' mantra!"

He said what then should any serious opposition be doing?

"Forget about Robert Mugabe because you hate him but take his advice that Sadc can do nothing if locals rest on their laurels. We need to face the junta and refuse to have them administer the elections. How do we do that? That's where you come in. If there is one area where Nkosana Moyo, Nelson Chamisa, Joice Mujuru, Ambrose Mutinhiri and others should hold hands, it is right here. Before they go back to their camps to fight they must fight one enemy, the junta," he said.

"Any clever political analyst knows without a doubt the junta is not handing over power to anyone even if that person wins by 100 million percent. It is their lives at stack man! We have a beautiful opportunity to usher our country into a true democracy."

"The people of Zimbabwe can go to the polls in large numbers, literally everyone going and voting against the junta but that would just be a waste of time. What would not be a waste of time would be Nkosana Moyo etal standing up and having the whole country march against the junta administering the 2018 elections. On what grounds? On the grounds that they are illegal. That march can be big and turn our fortunes around."
