University of Zimbabwe lecturers are demanding a pay hike because of increased workload arising from double intakes and night classes.
According to minutes of the Association of University Teachers (AUT) meeting held on March 22, the lecturers said their salaries were no longer in tandem with the bigger responsibilities.
The UZ has over the past years increased its enrolment, as it seeks to raise funds and self-sustain. However, lectures said although they are toiling at night, the money is not trickling into their pockets as college authorities continue grabbing the lion's share.
