Zanu PF youths fight at peace march

A Zanu PF march for peace turned violent in Harare this Wednesday afternoon as youths fought fiercely for party regalia.
The poorly attended march was organised by the youth league and was meant to counter MDC T's hugely successful march for electoral reforms held on Tuesday.
Some youths plainly refused to take part in the march demanding paraphernalia first.
"If you do not give us t-shirts, we are not going to march. We want to march with our t-shirts on so that we look like members of the party." One youth said.
Zanu-PF Youth Political Commissioner Godfrey Tsenengamu and his executive members tried in vain to stop the fights.
Some youths accused Zanu PF youth leadership of withholding campaign t-shirts.
"This leadership is the worst. They steal regalia meant for campaigns and are busy giving it to their friends," the youths said further adding that one youth leader had stocked t-shirts in his car.
"How are we to believe that this is a new dispensation since things are being done in the same old fashion."
Zanu PF Harare youth chairman, Godwin Gomwe tried to downplay the mele. He claimed the brawl was as a result of the shortage of t-shirts at the event. He pleaded with attendees to bear with the party and expect to get regalia at the next rally.
"We did not bring enough t-shirts to give everyone. The numbers are bigger than what we expected. As such, we understand why people are fighting. It is because everyone wants to be associated with the Zanu-PF brand which gives us courage ahead of the elections," said Gomwe.
