LEICESTER City's youthful Warriors striker Admiral Muskwe has revealed that it has always been his dream to play for Zimbabwe despite playing for England's Under-17 team about five years ago.

Muskwe was on the bench when the Warriors beat Congo at home last Sunday.

Born in Zimbabwe at Parirenyatwa Hospital in 1998 before moving to Leicester in UK at a young age, Muskwe made his Warriors debut against Lesotho in November 2017 and is looking forward to earning more caps for the national team.

The 20-year-old striker told The Sports Hub in an interview that it has always been his dream to play for his country of birth and he also owed it to his family to represent Zimbabwe.

"It was an easy decision to play for Zimbabwe. It's something that I have always dreamt of doing, so no decision was really needed. It was always going to be a yes for Zimbabwe but playing for the England age group team was also important for my development as a player. I also know that it would make my family proud for me to represent Zimbabwe," Muskwe told The Sports Hub ahead of the clash against Congo.

"So it's a huge honour for me and my family to come home and represent my country. I am looking forward to the challenge and hopefully have many fruitful years with the national team," he added.

Muskwe's roots in Zimbabwe are so strong that he is occasionally in the country visiting his family.

Only two years ago he donated a football kit to a local academy based in Mufakose belonging to former Dynamos fullback Stanley Chirambadare.

Muskwe also once featured for the Under-17 team years back when he was brought into the country by his uncle Patridge Muskwe, the former Under-17 coach, when he was still the mentor.

The player who turns out for the Leicester Under-23 side seems to have recently discovered his scoring touch at the club and is already looking forward to representing the country in Egypt in June.

He challenged the Warriors team to give its best at the Afcon competition.

"This team can be as good as it wants to be because there are a lot of very good players. Hopefully we can show it at Afcon and prove ourselves on the pitch as well as in future matches and tournaments. Our performance at the Afcon (finals) should set the tone for bigger achievements in future for the team," Muskwe said.
