AN unrepentant 55-year-old incestuous father who sired five children with his first-born daughter in Masvingo has reportedly begun a sexual relationship with another of his children, this time a product of the forbidden relationship. Despite having served a two-year jail term for fathering five children with the daughter he claimed to have been in love with, the man, upon release, allegedly begun another "love affair'' with his 16-year-old daughter, a product of the incestuous relationship.
Although he denied the latest affair when confronted by The Sunday Mail, the former prisoner's relatives said they had since rescued the teenage girl after they discovered that she was also having a sexual relationship with him. The man is now left fending for his other two children, a four-year-old girl and six-year-old boy, both children he had with his daughter.
His daughter, the children's mother, is believed to have fled the village leaving them in the care of her grandmother, her father's mother and technically the children's grandmother as well. His wife, with whom he had 10 children, one of them the mother of his five, disappeared when he was arrested, vowing not to have anything to do with her daughter's children.
The ex-prisoner's in-laws now accuse him of having a sexual relationship with the older of his daughter's children. He, however, has denied the allegations, saying that he would not commit the same offence twice.
"I now know how wrong I was and I would not commit the same crime again, I learnt my lesson well. So I was surprised when my sister-in-law took away one of my daughters without an explanation," he said.
He was arrested for incest in 2008 and sentenced for an effective two years in jail. He said upon his release he discovered that three of his children were living with his mother and therefore took them to live with him at his homestead. "I left five children when I went to prison, but when I came back, I found only three here.
"I never raped my daughter we were in love. But my question is, I was jailed for fathering five children, and now some men come and claim two of them as theirs. These are my children and I want them back," he fumed. He said the other nine children he had with his wife have refused to talk to him ever since he was arrested.
The unemployed father has appealed for food and clothing for the children from well-wishers.
However, his neighbours insist he should not be living with the other two children. The Department of Social Welfare in Masvingo refused to comment on the matter last week referring all queries to their head office in Harare who were also unavailable for comment.
