A storm is brewing in the ruling party ZANU PF party after a faction aligned to Vice President Constantino Nyikadzino Guvheya Chiwenga is adamant that President Emmerson Mnangagwa must step down in the coming December Conference.

A high placed source in the Office of the President in Harare alleged that a Zezuru grouping nicknamed The Zezuru Mafia has taken charge of the Party's Post-Mnangagwa succession preparations.

"It is no longer speculation as some people thought but it's a real event that will be played out very soon, "The source said. "A deal has been brokered. One major development that has happened is that one of the Zezuru godfathers Sydney Sekeramayi is reported to have brokered the deal to bring back Retired Brigadier General Ambrose Mutinhiri to the fold so that the December team is built and remains intact."

The source further said that ZANU PF members who had aligned themselves to President Mnangagwa are unhappy with the developments because they feel they might be sidelined if the deal sails through undisturbed.

"One other thing that is there is that the leadership aligned to VP is not happy with HE as they feel that he is giving in to too much demands from the West and other forces which weakens makes the country vulnerable to other some forces who may want to encroach into the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the nation through prescribing their polices.

"However, its not all rosy as some members within the ruling party fear that they might see a purging being done if the resolution is implemented in December. They fear that there might be retired and replaced from their current party or government positions."

Recently online reports alleged that Vice President Chiwenga told the Chinese Military that President Mnangagwa's term will end in 2020 to pave way for a new leadership that is favorable to the military.
