Harare Magistrate Rumbidzayi Mugwagwa on Thursday acquitted 7 leaders of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade who had been on trial for allegedly staging anti-govt protest on 11 October 2018.
The acquitted include ZCTU President Peter Mutasa.
Mutasa had called for protests in Harare despite a police ban on public gatherings in the capital due to cholera outbreak that prevailed last year.
The protests was against sharp price hikes, 2% tax and daily shortages ranging from fuel to bread.
Before his arrest had Mutasa told journalists that, "We are demonstrating peacefully against hardships. We are here to make the authorities know that Zimbabweans are suffering."
