Bulawayo Mayor Solomon Madlala Mguni has sent his condolence message to the Mayor of Ethekwini Thomas Mxolisi Kaunda over the tragic floods that killed hundreds of people in KZN Province of South Africa.
In the letter Mguni said, "May I take this opportunity to extend our sympathy to the people of Durban following, the recent floods that the City and the entire KwaZulu-Natal Province have experienced recently. Our thoughts and Prayers are with you, your Council and the entire KwaZulu-Natal Province.
"May the Almighty God intervene and we pray for the preservation of VINeS, speed restoration of services and rehabilitation of infrastructure. We pray that the Almighty God be with you and comfort you during this difficult time."
Meanwhile, South African media has reported that a United Nations technical team arrived in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday as part of a three-day visit to the flood-ravaged province.
The UN South Africa's technical team will meet with various stakeholders, including the Provincial Disaster Management Centre and the eThekwini Municipality, to assess the areas they could support.
It has been almost two weeks since the devastating floods left thousands displaced, 435 people dead, while 54 were still reported missing.
