GLEN VIEW South legislator Grandmore Hakata and 40 other members of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) have had their case of disorderly conduct extended, with a new remand date set for November 7.
The group, represented by Kudzai Kadzere from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi on the matter.
The state prosecutor, Tafara Chirambira, claimed that the CCC members failed to comply with law enforcement officers' instructions, and three witnesses are expected to testify against the 40 individuals.
In a previous court appearance, Kadzere argued that the witnesses' credibility was in question due to conflicting statements and that the police failed to record statements from the complainants.
Hakata and the CCC members were arrested in August while conducting an election campaign roadshow at Machipisa Shopping Centre in Highfield, Harare. Although the CCC had initially informed authorities of a campaign rally at Churu Farm, they later changed their plans, resulting in their arrest.
