An armed robber was fatally shot on Tuesday morning after he and his accomplice attempted to rob a fuel service station in Kadoma. The incident occurred at Spencer Fuel Service Station, located in the town, at around 3 am.
While provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera, could not immediately confirm the details of the incident, police sources, who requested to remain anonymous, revealed that two robbers armed with machetes targeted the fuel station. They reportedly attempted to force their way into the premises, intending to carry out the robbery.
However, security guards stationed at the fuel station quickly responded to the threat. According to the sources, the guards, acting in self-defense, shot and killed one of the robbers. The second accomplice managed to flee the scene before he could be apprehended.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are continuing efforts to locate the surviving robber. No casualties or injuries were reported among the fuel station staff or security personnel.
Authorities have yet to release further details or confirm the identities of the robbers. However, the failed robbery highlights the escalating security risks at fuel stations and the growing trend of armed criminal activity in the area.
As the investigation progresses, police have urged the public to provide any information that may help in locating the escaped robber. The security measures at fuel stations will likely come under review as authorities seek to prevent similar incidents in the future.
