4 armed robbers steal over US$46,000 and R924,000 in heist

In a daring robbery that has sent shockwaves through the community, four armed robbers raided a money transfer outlet in Ngundu on November 25, 2024, making off with more than US$46,300 and R924,000 in cash.

The incident took place in the evening, as a teller employed at the shop was on his way home after closing. The robbers, who were armed with pistols, confronted the man and forced him to return to the shop, where they demanded he open the safe. Once inside, the thieves stole the cash before fleeing the scene.

According to National Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the Masvingo police are actively investigating the case.

"Police in Masvingo are investigating circumstances surrounding a case of robbery which occurred on November 25, 2024, at a money transfer outlet in Ngundu," said Commissioner Nyathi.

"The four male suspects, armed with pistols, confronted the teller who was on his way home after finishing his shift. They forced him to return to the shop and opened the safe, stealing US$46,349 and R924,100. We urge anyone with information to contact their nearest police station."

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspects, who remain at large. Investigations are ongoing as police work to track down the perpetrators of this audacious robbery.
