At least three people were seriously injured at Southley Park turn-off along Masvingo road when a commuter omnibus they were travelling in failed to give way and crushed into an oncoming haulage truck which was on its way to Tete, Mozambique this morning.
Witness Tichaona Maodzeka, claimed that failure by commuter omnibus driver to adhere to prescribed traffic signage and brake failure has caused the accident.
"Had it not been for the haulage truck driver's cautious driving, we would have recorded fatalities, but he successfully avoided that," Maodzeka said.
"The driver from the commuter omnibus failed to give way to the oncoming haulage truck and ignored everything to avoid the accident. He also blamed brake failure as the other cause for the head-on collision," Maodzeka added.
Meanwhile, other witnesses have applauded the Logistics SA haulage truck driver's ability to control his vehicle and avoid any fatality though some have been seriously injured.
Zimbabwe Republic Police officers have immediately respond and attended to the accident.
