Wheelchair bound gangster jailed

A notorious gang leader Llyod Mahovhani Mabiti who was recruiting  gangsters to rob, kidnap, assault, exort and threaten Chibuwe resisdence has been convicted.


Mabiti was sentenced to 11 years behind bars by Chipinge magistrate Nixon Mangoti who found him guilty of seven separate charges.

The court heard that on March 11 Mabiti and his accomplices pounced on Solomon Murire's house during midnight.

They misrepresented themselves as police officers and ordered Murire to come out of the house.

While on his wheel chair Mabiti ordered his gang to tie the complainant  with a rope and assault him with machetes and golf sticks.

They took him to their base where they assaulted him all the more.

A police report was filed leading  to the arrest of Mabiti.

Meanwhile, Mabiti is an ex-convict of murder of a police officer who was pardoned on Presidential amnesty. 

He was shot in Western Cape, South Africa during a robbery shoot out and was left paralysed.
