Kombi drivers attempt to run over police officers
3 hrs ago | Views

Two Harare commuter bus drivers have been arrested for allegedly attempting to run over police officers at a checkpoint in Epworth.
The incident occurred on Thursday along Chiremba Road near Chans, where officers said the drivers of a Toyota Hiace (registration AEU 0134) and a Nissan Caravan (registration AHA 0543) ignored police signals to stop and instead accelerated towards them. The drivers have been identified as 28-year-old Wilson Yasin and 35-year-old Courage Tinashe Mupoperi. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Both men were taken into custody on charges of attempted murder and are expected to appear in court soon. The Zimbabwe Republic Police condemned the actions, warning commuter omnibus operators against reckless behaviour and emphasising that such conduct endangers lives.
The arrests come amid a broader crackdown on errant commuter operators in Harare and other urban centres, as authorities step up efforts to enforce traffic laws and maintain road safety.
