'Mliswa's VP attack ploy to derail Zvigananda arrest'

Some prominent Zanu PF officials opposed to corruption have labeled Themba Mliswa an extortionist, alleging he received over US$360,000 from corrupt cartels to launch a smear campaign against Vice President Constantino Chiwenga in retaliation for his anti-corruption efforts.

Mliswa has been actively using his X handle to attack Chiwenga after the VP implicated President Emmerson Mnangagwa in corruption during a tumultuous politburo meeting two weeks ago.

This revelation did not sit well with Mliswa, who initiated a campaign to discredit Chiwenga, accusing him of politicising his anti-corruption stance.

Mliswa further alleged that Chiwenga received over US$1 million from businessman Wicknell Chivhayo, challenging him to resign if he genuinely opposed graft.

But Mliswa's attack on the VP has spectacularly backfired, with social media users relentlessly criticism him on X, accusing him of being a hired gun for the cartels who which include notable figures such as Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Scott Sakupwanya, Delish Nguwaya, and Wicknell Chivhayo.

In response, sympathetic Zanu PF officials have claimed that Mliswa was indeed compensated with US$360,000 to undermine Chiwenga.

Yet, Mliswa has vehemently denied ever receiving payment to disparage the VP.

This unfolding drama exposes Mliswa not as a champion of the people, but as a hired agent obstructing justice, ready to shield those whose corrupt actions have devastated the nation.

His campaign serves to divert attention from the corrupt practices of the cartels and undermine Chiwenga's calls for their arrest.

A senior Zanu PF member, who chose to remain anonymous, condemned Mliswa as a "disgrace," a "total fool," and a "legendary fool" for allegedly accepting kickbacks to defend those accused of misappropriating billions of United States dollars.

"Mliswa has completely ruined his life, name, and entire clan by aligning with the corrupt. He will pay for this when the time comes," the incensed official stated.

Mliswa has also claimed that Chiwenga presented a dossier to Mnangagwa inappropriately.
According to sources, this dossier outlined the cartels as a security threat, implicating Mnangagwa in the misappropriation of billions from the ruling party's 45% stake in Sakunda Holdings, owned by Tagwirei.
Mnangagwa himself read out the dossier during the politburo meeting.

"By choosing to be a paid defender of the accused, Themba Mliswa has revealed his true allegiance," the Zanu PF official said.

"He is no longer just a political critic but an alleged active participant in efforts to obstruct justice and protect individuals accused of grand corruption and looting."

Since launching his campaign against Chiwenga, Mliswa has faced a backlash on social media, with many questioning why he targets the Vice President instead of the President named in the dossier.

"Why are you starting with the second in command? Shouldn't you target ED first and then go down the ladder? Are you suggesting ED supports corruption and is therefore exempt from your criticisms? Chiwenga speaks out, and you attack him. What kind of fool are you?" posted by Nick Mraz.

Another user, Tatenda Chingambika, wrote: "Temba Mliswa, just return the kickbacks you pocketed from the looting cartels.

"Your history is clear, from seizing farms and manipulating mining deals to demanding cuts from investors and protecting corrupt networks that are destroying Zimbabwe.

"You thrive on extortion and political flip-flopping, selling yourself to the highest bidder."
Others echoed the sentiment that it is evident Mliswa was paid.

"Even if Chiwenga is corrupt, doesn't that mean he shouldn't call for an end to corruption? What's wrong with what he said?

"You are clearly pushing a different agenda. Just weeks ago, someone alleged you were paid to tarnish the VP's image, and here we are now," posted John Bruce Mugaro.

Two weeks ago, war veteran Blessed Runesu Geza also claimed on X that Mliswa had been compensated to damage Chiwenga's reputation following his exposure in the politburo.
