Teacher found dead in school apartment

A somber atmosphere has gripped Derembwe Primary School in Zimunya, Mutare, after a teacher, Bothwell Chigweshe, was found dead in his staff quarters on Sunday evening. Police say no foul play is suspected.
Manicaland Acting Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident, saying preliminary investigations indicate that Chigweshe had gone to bed drunk on Saturday afternoon around 3pm.
According to police, Chigweshe's housemaid, Shamiso Ruvivi, later heard strange noises coming from his room during the night and alerted fellow teacher Mary Murehwe (34).
"Murehwe went into the room and discovered that Chigweshe had passed away," said Asst Insp Chinyoka.
A report was made at Muromo Police Post, and detectives who attended the scene found no visible injuries on the body.
The deceased's body was taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
Police say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
