War veteran Blessed Geza has issued a bold call for a nationwide uprising, urging Zimbabweans to take to the streets on October 17 to demand the resignation of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In a video released on YouTube, Geza - who is wanted on sedition charges - appeared in military fatigues at an undisclosed location, intensifying his defiance against Mnangagwa's leadership.
"We want an uprising from Plumtree to Mutare, from Zambezi to Limpopo. Everyone must flood the streets - Mnangagwa must go," Geza declared.
Geza claims to represent a faction of war veterans disillusioned with Mnangagwa's rule, accusing the government of betrayal and economic mismanagement. His call comes amid rising political tension and reports of increased state security deployments.
The timing of Geza's message coincides with growing discontent within the ruling party, as Mnangagwa's allies reportedly seek to amend the Constitution to extend his term beyond 2028 to 2030.
Political analysts say the internal strife has revived speculation of a renewed power struggle between Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, the former army general who helped orchestrate the 2017 coup that brought Mnangagwa to power.
Although Chiwenga has not commented on Geza's remarks, his influence within the military has been questioned after Mnangagwa recently removed Army Commander Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe, one of Chiwenga's key allies.
Geza, meanwhile, has appealed to opposition parties and civic groups to join the planned protests, warning that the nation "cannot continue to suffer under corruption and tyranny."
As tensions mount and security forces remain on high alert, Zimbabwe's political landscape appears increasingly volatile. Whether Geza's call will translate into widespread action remains uncertain — but the government's swift response indicates it is treating the threat with utmost seriousness.
