The Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) has extended a formal invitation to Zimbabwean opposition figure and Chairman of the National Democratic Working Group (NDWG), Job Sikhala, to deliver a keynote address at the party's forthcoming congress scheduled for November 1, 2025.

In a letter signed by BPF President Mephato Reatile, the invitation lauds Sikhala's unwavering commitment to democracy and justice, describing him as one of Southern Africa's most courageous political voices. The congress, to be held at Serowe Village Stadium, will convene under the theme of democratic renewal and citizen empowerment, with proceedings expected to begin at 8:30 a.m.

Reatile said the invitation was extended on behalf of the BPF leadership and membership under the founding guidance of the party's patron, former Botswana President Lt. General Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama. The BPF leader praised Sikhala for his "long and courageous journey in Zimbabwean politics," citing his advocacy for the oppressed and his steadfast defense of democratic principles despite adversity.

"We believe your reflections on democratic resilience, political mobilization, citizen engagement, and the role of opposition in shaping governance will be of great value to our delegates," wrote Reatile. "Your story of sacrifice and determination will also inspire our youth, women, and elected leaders as we chart a new path for Botswana's future."

The invitation marks a deepening of Pan-African solidarity among opposition movements in the region, with the BPF recognizing Sikhala's experiences as a lesson in persistence amid political turbulence. Sikhala, a former Member of Parliament for Zengeza West in Harare, has been a prominent figure in Zimbabwe's pro-democracy circles and is known for his outspoken defense of political freedoms.

Reatile concluded the correspondence by expressing hope that Sikhala would confirm his participation by October 20, saying his presence would be "an immense honour" to the BPF and its delegates.

The Botswana Patriotic Front, established in 2019, continues to position itself as a reformist alternative in Botswana's political landscape, with growing regional engagement that underscores its commitment to democratic cooperation across Southern Africa.
