The Government of Zimbabwe has announced a Special Presidential Bonus of US$150 for all civil servants, to be paid in two equal instalments of US$75 in November and December 2025.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Edgar Moyo, who said the payment was part of a broader government initiative to improve the welfare of public sector workers and pensioners.
"To provide festive season relief and recognise dedicated service, the Government will pay a once-off Special Presidential Bonus of US$150 for all civil servants," Moyo said.
He clarified that the bonus is in addition to the regular annual bonus and monthly salaries, underscoring the administration's efforts to cushion public workers amid economic challenges.
The Minister also revealed that a new Job Evaluation Remuneration Framework will be implemented in the first quarter of 2026 to align pay structures with performance and responsibilities across government departments.
As part of additional measures to enhance workers' benefits, Moyo announced the restoration of civil servants' vehicle rebate privileges to 2022 levels, as stipulated under Statutory Instrument 124 of 2022, effective from December 1, 2025.
The government also plans to recapitalise the Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) to ensure that public servants have reliable access to quality healthcare.
In addressing the country's housing challenges, Moyo said a total of 26,000 residential stands have been set aside for civil servants - 20,000 in Harare and 6,000 in Bulawayo - with more allocations planned across other regions.
Moyo said the interventions reflect the government's ongoing commitment to fostering a motivated, efficient, and responsive public service. "Our goal is to ensure that both serving and retired public workers are adequately supported so that they continue contributing meaningfully to national development," he added.
