Secondary runway and terminal for Mugabe airport

The Airports Company of Zimbabwe (Private) Limited (ACZ) has announced plans to develop a secondary runway, cargo terminal, and associated ancillary facilities at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport precinct in Harare.
The proposed development will occupy all land within the airport's restricted Red Zone. ACZ has urged all affected landowners and occupiers to visit its offices on the third level of the International Terminal Building at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport within 30 days of the gazetting of this notice to engage in discussions regarding compensation.
The project is being undertaken in accordance with section 26 of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act [Chapter 29:12], Local Subject Plan number 31, and section 86 of the Civil Aviation Aerodromes Regulations of 2018 (Statutory Instrument 211 of 2018).
ACZ highlighted that the development is expected to act as a significant catalyst for global trade and economic growth, delivering benefits at local, regional, and national levels. The company emphasized that the expansion of airport infrastructure will enhance cargo handling capacity, improve operational efficiency, and position Zimbabwe as a key player in international air transport and logistics.
Affected parties are encouraged to engage with ACZ promptly to ensure proper compensation arrangements are discussed and finalised.
