Bully karateka faces eviction over US$3,200 rent arrears

Bulawayo martial arts personality Sensei Tendai, also known as Tendai Maduwa, is facing eviction from a property in Famona after his landlord approached the Magistrates Court over alleged unpaid rent.
The landlord claims Maduwa owes a total of US$3,200 in rent, comprising US$1,200 for the cottage and US$2,000 for the main house.
According to court papers, Maduwa initially paid the required deposit and first month's rent after entering into a verbal rental agreement. However, the landlord alleges that he subsequently fell into arrears despite repeated demands for payment.
The landlord has since cancelled the verbal agreement and is seeking an order for Maduwa's eviction from the property.
In addition to the eviction, the landlord is claiming US$1,900 per month in damages from September 25 until Maduwa vacates the property.
Maduwa has seven days from the date he is served with the summons to indicate whether he intends to defend the matter.
The eviction case comes shortly after Maduwa was charged with assault following an alleged confrontation with two TTI parking marshals in Bulawayo after his vehicle was clamped.
The allegations contained in the eviction proceedings have not been tested in court, and Maduwa is yet to indicate whether he will oppose the landlord's claims.
