Newly appointed Highlanders head coach Benjani Mwaruwari is set to receive a brand-new US$80 000 vehicle of his choice, courtesy of businessman Wicknel Chivayo, as part of continued investment in the Bulawayo giants.
Confirming the development on Sunday, Chivayo stated that the gesture comes in addition to a US$250 000 executive team bus and a US$300 000 cash injection he has already contributed to the club.
"It's US$300k cash, bus for US$285k plus US$80k car for Benji," Chivayo said in a WhatsApp message to Check Point.
Earlier, Chivayo expressed his excitement over Mwaruwari's appointment on Facebook, highlighting the new coach's experience and pedigree.
"The expertise and pedigree of Mkoma Benji speaks for itself, and more importantly, his exposure to football at the regional level in South Africa, coupled with the rare privilege of being one of the few Zimbabwean footballers to play in European football leagues, make him the best coach option for iBOSSO," he wrote.
Chivayo emphasised the importance of relying on local football experts to improve the club's performance, congratulating Mwaruwari, the technical management team, and players on what he described as a well-deserved appointment.
The move signals continued support from investors and highlights Highlanders' ambition to strengthen their squad and technical leadership ahead of the upcoming season.
