SCORES of EcoCash users across Manicaland were left frustrated and stranded since yesterday as the mobile money platform continued to experience transaction failures following a weekend system maintenance exercise.
Long queues formed outside EcoCash offices in Mutare today, with clients seeking assistance and resolution for failed transfers, deposits, and withdrawals.
The inconvenience comes despite the company notifying customers early yesterday that the maintenance exercise had been successfully completed. Many users, however, reported that their transactions were still not processing, leaving them without access to funds.
"The EcoCash system maintenance exercise has been completed, and service has been fully restored. Thank you for your patience," the company stated in a notice to clients.
The ongoing service disruptions have highlighted the platform's central role in everyday financial transactions in Zimbabwe, where mobile money has become a lifeline for sending remittances, paying bills, and conducting business. Users expressed frustration over the lack of immediate support and the economic impact of being unable to access their money.
EcoCash has urged clients to remain patient while the company continues to monitor and stabilise its services across the province.
