A 25‑year‑old man from Chivi has died following a domestic dispute in which his wife reportedly threatened to report him to the police for assault.
Masvingo Acting Provincial Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu confirmed the death of George Mutizwa of Headman Handizvihwi area.
According to police, the couple argued on the evening of 13 February over household hygiene issues, and the dispute escalated. Mutizwa allegedly assaulted his wife during the altercation.
The following morning, the wife reportedly left home intending to report the matter to the police. Mutizwa was later found dead near his homestead.
Assistant Inspector Patinyu expressed concern over domestic disputes ending tragically and urged couples to seek peaceful and lawful ways of resolving conflict.
“We urge members of the public to utilise community leaders, family elders, churches and professional counselling services to mediate in conflicts before they escalate,” he said.
He also reminded the public that gender‑based violence is a criminal offence and those found guilty face arrest and prosecution.
