President of the yet‑to‑be‑announced political movement, Nelson Chamisa, has strongly condemned the abduction and torture of two National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) members, who are also part of the Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF).

In a statement, Chamisa described the incident as a brazen attack on citizens' authority and an intolerable violation of the people's power.

"This heinous act represents a brazen assault on citizen authority, an intolerable violation of the citizens' power, and a direct affront to the will and choices of citizens," he said.

"Such barbaric acts are the grim signature of states without legitimate governance, archaic and typical of states run by militias and leaders without a citizen mandate."

Chamisa demanded an immediate and transparent investigation, as well as the swift prosecution of those responsible.

"We demand an immediate and transparent investigation, as well as the swift prosecution of all those responsible. The era of impunity must end," he said.

The two NCA activists were abducted this week, tortured and later dumped in Harare while mobilising against proposed constitutional amendments.
