The City of Harare has resumed pumping water to Greater Harare following the completion of critical repair works at Warren Control in Warren Park.
In a public notice issued on Monday night, the council confirmed that water production had restarted but cautioned residents that supply would not be immediate across all areas, as distribution systems still need time to stabilise.
"Since most of our distribution tanks were empty, it will take time for water to get to residential areas. Some residents will start getting water anytime from now, while in other areas, it will take more time," the council said.
Authorities thanked residents for their patience during the disruption, which began on March 27 after a major pipe burst forced an emergency shutdown of the Warren Control system.
The shutdown allowed engineers to scour the system, assess pipeline integrity and carry out necessary repairs to restore operations.
Although the works were initially expected to be completed by Sunday, additional technical complications extended the repair timeline.
The restoration of pumping marks a significant step towards normalising water supply in the capital, though full service recovery is expected to be gradual as reservoirs refill and pressure stabilises across the network.
