Mambo Dhuterere among 4 wanted over armed robberies

POLICE have named musician Mambo Dhuterere, Khule Diva, Kasongo and Senior Gama as wanted suspects in connection with a series of armed robbery cases reported in Ruwa, Rusape and Harare.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police said three suspects - Tinei Makaripe (47), Pungurayi Mukumbachaza and Gabriel Mukambachaza (41) - had been arrested following investigations into the cases.

According to a police statement issued on September 15, the suspects and their accomplices allegedly attacked a company at Borders Estate in Ruwa at about 12.30am on September 13 and stole US$108 000 after attacking and restraining company workers.

Makaripe was reportedly apprehended by company workers as the suspects fled after he fell while attempting to scale the perimeter wall. He was subsequently handed over to police.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Mukumbachaza in Damofalls Phase 1, Harare, where detectives recovered US$4 900 allegedly hidden in his vehicle.

Mukambachaza was arrested at his rural home in Rusape, where police recovered US$5 000, two pistols, ammunition, handcuffs, fuse cables, explosives and three balaclavas.

Police said one of the recovered firearms, a Tokarev pistol, had allegedly been stolen during an armed robbery at a steel company in Southerton on March 12, 2026.

The suspects are also being linked to four other armed robbery cases.

Among the cases is an alleged robbery at a beverages company in Rusape on January 26, where US$39 828, a Star pistol loaded with five rounds, pepper spray, handcuffs and three cellphones were reportedly stolen.

Police also linked the suspects to the March 12 robbery at a steel company along Tilbury Road in Southerton, Harare, during which US$14 118 was allegedly stolen.

The other suspects identified as Khule Diva, Mambo Dhuterere, Kasongo and Senior Gama remain at large.

Police have appealed to members of the public with information that could assist in locating the wanted suspects to report to the nearest police station.

The latest developments come as police are also investigating a separate murder and armed robbery in Bulawayo in which a businessperson was shot dead.

The incident occurred on September 14 near a service station along JMN Nkomo Street, between Fourth and Third Avenue.

Police said three unidentified suspects allegedly shot dead Tadius Rutanhire (52) with a pistol before fleeing with his bag containing US$10 000.

Rutanhire had reportedly closed his shop and was walking towards his son's vehicle, which had arrived to pick him up, when the attack occurred.

Police are appealing for information that may assist investigations into the Bulawayo murder and robbery.
