Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni says his meeting with Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in key economic sectors and promoting regional peace and stability.
The two leaders met at State House Entebbe, where they discussed expanding Uganda–Egypt relations in trade, industrialisation, renewable energy, fish farming and water‑resource management.
In a statement after the meeting, Museveni described the talks as productive and highlighted the importance of large‑scale fish farming in transforming livelihoods and protecting the environment.
"I shared with him the need to support large‑scale fish farming as a way of protecting wetlands, creating jobs and helping our people transition from subsistence agriculture to commercial production," Museveni said.
The Ugandan leader also emphasised the critical role of electricity generation and manufacturing in accelerating socio‑economic transformation across Africa.
According to Museveni, the discussions also touched on regional peace and security, with both leaders underscoring the importance of dialogue and African‑led solutions to conflicts on the continent.
The meeting comes as Uganda and Egypt continue to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties, particularly in areas linked to agriculture, energy development and water‑resource management.
