A taxi driver from Gokwe Centre has been accused of attempting to lure a 15‑year‑old schoolgirl into sexual activity. The incident, which ended with the man being assaulted by the girl's aunt, was recorded on video and has since circulated locally.

According to the aunt, the driver first met the teenager while ferrying her in his taxi. She alleges that he later began calling the girl persistently, eventually asking to visit her at home. Concerned by what she described as repeated pestering, the aunt devised a plan to confront him.

When the driver arrived at the house, the aunt locked the door and confronted him. She accused him of abusing his position as an adult by trying to exploit a minor. The video shows her shouting at him and offering two choices: face police action for attempted rape or accept a physical punishment.

The man reportedly chose the latter, removing his jacket before being whipped while the aunt continued to berate him. At one point, he appeared to apologise, asking whether she herself had never made mistakes.

The aunt, however, insisted that his behaviour was unacceptable, stressing that a grown man should never attempt to prey on a child. She declared that her actions were intended as both punishment and a warning to others who might consider exploiting minors.

The video captures her saying: "Why are you abusing the little girl? Either I beat you or I call the police. A 15‑year‑old is not to be touched."

The driver, while trying to defend himself, maintained that he had not intended to rape the girl, but ultimately submitted to the beating.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether formal charges will be pursued.
