A man from Majange Business Centre was last week arraigned before the courts for allegedly saying Robert Mugabe is a dog and he had deceived people.
Makasi allegedly said that, "Robert Mugabe imbwa haakwanise kuita zvaakataura pamacampains aingonyepera vanhu (Robert Mugabe is a dog he cannot fulfil what he promised the electorate during the campaigning period but was merely lying).
Prosecutor Joshua Mundondo told the court that on September 14, 2013 Makasi who resides at house number 2452 Mushandike Close in Majange went to the shops where he started quarrelling with one of the people who were at the shops and this led him to insult President Robert Mugabe.
Makasi pleaded not guilty when he initially appeared before Magistrate Lynn Manyika.
In his defence Makasi said he cannot remember anything since he was drunk on that day. He added that he doesn't remember saying those words and he don't think he said them.
Makasi who was represented by Martin Mureri of Matutu, Kwirira and Associates was released on $40 bail and the case was postponed to October 3 2013.
