MDC leader and former Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai yesterday said he still had the people's support to remain at the helm of the party and will only be removed by congress when the time comes.
Addressing thousands of party members at Dewure Business Centre yesterday, Tsvangirai accused Zanu-PF of fanning factionalism within his party.
He said the MDC-T renewal team, which is calling for his ouster, was working with Mugabe and Zanu-PF.
Tsvangirai however did not comment on the proposed imminent grand alliance between the MDC-T renewal team, MDC led by Welshmen Ncube, Zapu and Makoni's Kusile/Dawn/Mavambo project.
"I do not have CIO, army and police on my side, but I have the people's support. MDC is not my project; it is a people's project.I do not want to die in office like [President] Mugabe. If you are tired of me, oust me at congress," said Tsvangirai.
"Mugabe and his CIO, police and army are against me. And some of you have joined the fray."
He accused rebels of attacking his personality.
"As leaders, we should have vision, not waste our time on attacking personalities. If you are in a struggle, others tire and opt out," he said.
Tsvangirai said the MDC-T would one day beat Zanu-PF in a free and fair election.
"We will get there. We must put pressure on Zanu-PF to negotiate for a political solution so that we return to the good old days," Tsvangirai said.
