A Branding Expert from Costa Rica, Ms. Carolina Leñero, will deliver the Key Note address at the forthcoming 2014 ZimTrade Annual Exporters' Conference scheduled for 2 October at the Meikles Hotel, Harare.
The Conference will be held under the Theme: "Creating Brand Zimbabwe".
Ms. Leñero has accumulated more than 10 years' experience working with both National and International leading Brands such as Coca-Cola, American Airlines, British American Tobacco and Papa John's Pizza.
She led the development process for the Costa Rican Nation Brand, "essential COSTA RICA", obtaining high recognitions from authorities on the subject for brand content, design, management and strategic vision.
Ms. Leñero maintains close networking with other Nation Brand managers and strategists throughout the world and has participated in international fora on the subject of Nation Branding.
Costa Rica is a developing country with a similar socio-economic history as Zimbabwe. The country has realised growth through the transformation of subsistence agriculture into a diversified economic base that now includes a vibrant horticulture sector, manufacturing and tourism. Zimbabwe can, therefore, learn from their experience as the country works towards Creating Brand Zimbabwe.
The ZimTrade Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Sithembile Pilime, said "the time is now ripe to develop ‘Brand Zimbabwe', which effectively projects the potential that our country possesses and stems from its diverse natural and human capital resource endowment".
"Therefore, there is need to map common ground in projecting the country to the outside world as an attractive investment, trade and tourism destination", she added.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon. Mike Bimha, will officially open the Conference, which will also feature Hon. Walter Mzembi – Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
Other experts have been mobilised to speak on the subject. These include:
· Mr. Chris Mahakata - Chief Executive Officer, Mawazo Brandevelopment
· Mr. Jeremy Youmans - Executive Director, Paramount Exports, and
· Mr. Fernando dos Santos - Director General, African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO)
The Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Chiratidzo Mabuwa, will be the Guest of Honour at the Exporter of the Year Awards Gala Dinner to be held in the evening of the same day.
