Infighting fuels MDC-T implosion

The intense jostling for power in the MDC-T ahead of the party's congress this month and among other effects, left the party seriously exposed electorally following losses to Zanu-PF in recent by-elections in the party's fast diminishing strongholds since 2000.
The MDC-T this month lost Chitungwiza Ward 12 by election to Zanu PF.
Simbiso Mhike of Zanu-PF garnered 993 votes against MDC-T's Kenneth Chinyaure who got a paltry 91, suggesting the party is losing ground in urban areas which have been its stronghold.
Last month MDC-T candidate Fastmore Mandipota lost the Kadoma Ward 4 by election to Godfrey Mavura of Zanu PF who won by 503 votes against 212 votes.
