Former liberation war commander and now Zapu leader Dumiso Dabengwa is mulling joining hands with a group of ruling Zanu-PF big-wigs deposed after acrimonious December 2014 congress to challenge President Robert Mugabe and his party.
Dabengwa said that he sympathized with the faction of Zanu-PF led by expelled former Vice President Joice Mujuru, which has in its ranks ex-party secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa and ex-information supremo Rugare Gumbo.
The ex-Zapu intelligence supremo and former Home Affairs minister said his party would also consider backing in Mutasa and other ex-Zanu-PF candidates in parliamentary by-elections called after the ruling party decided to recall those linked to Mujuru and her cabal of quislings.
