Government has succumbed to pressure from mass protests and the on-going stay away and changed civil servants' pay dates in a futile attempt to end the crippling demonstrations.

Teachers were supposed to be payed on the 8th of July while nurses and doctors were set to receive their dues on the 14th in the same month.

Pressure mounting from the on-going civil servant stay away has forced the government to announce that nurses and doctor's pay dates have been changed to the 8th, alongside teachers.

In a letter leaked to Byo24News, Health and Child Care secretary Dr Gerald Gwinji instructed the Health Services Board (HBS) to notify its stakeholders of the pay date changes.

Part of the letter said "Please be advised that Treasury has informed us that salaries for health workers for the month of June 2016 will now be paid on 8 July 2016."

Doctors and nurses have been quoted vowing not resume work until their full remunerations were paid.

The government has of late only managed to pay state security departments, whilst the rest of the civil service received only $100 for their June salaries.
