Jilted man chop off woman's fingers

A 20 year old woman- Nomakhaya Giyani had her fingers chopped off after turning down a proposal from a fellow villager.

Giyani of Mbembesi was also struck with knobkerrie several times on the head and lost several fingers from her right hand.

Nkosithulisa Mpofu aged 23 ambushed Giyani on her way home from Gadadi business centre and proposed love to her.

Mpofu was turned down and that angered him, B-Metro reported.

"Mpofu tried his luck on Giyani but was turned down and she left for home" prosecutor Taurai Hondoyemoto said.

"He then followed Giyani who insisted she was not interested in him. This did not go down well with Mpofu who struck her on the head several times with a knobkerrie.

"He drew a knife from his pocket and attempted to stab Giyani who blocked the knife using her right hand and as a result she lost some of her fingers".

Mpofu fled the scene leaving Giyani in deep pain.

He was eventually arrested and pleaded not guilty to assault and remanded to September 2 on $30 bail.
