Students at Bindura university denied transport
04 Mar 2017 at 17:56hrs | Views
Students at Bindura university are going through the worst experience in this rainy season as they have to endure long walks in muddy roads.
The lucky ones are those who are fortunate enough to get a place to stay in the school residence as they get to enjoy the ride to and from school in the school buses.
The ones renting in the local residence do not enjoy the same benefit though they pay the same transport fee.
What hurts most is the fact that they get to watch the buses ferrying staff from their neighborhoods.
You would wonder if the transport fee we pay is for the school's employees.
Again those who don't get to pass all their courses have to pay $70 for a rewrite per each course.
This is quite a burden on the poverty stricken population who even stumble to get the school fees.
Failing course is bad for a student but sometimes the reasons behind the failures are justified. For example some have to work as they learn and it's stressful to balance the two.
Some other varsities offer supplementary exam at no charge and this seems like a tough call for B.U.S.E's management.
In 2016 the student representative body (SRC) tried to demonstrate about the issue but presents of police officers with button sticks incited fear in the students and the action was left alone.
My request is that one of your reporter or writers look into the issue maybe if the whole nation knows about this they will be forced to reverse such acts in the name of love for their students.
Thank you in advance.
